What confuses you most about the world?

Posted on Oct 15th, 2008 by Holly
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 12, 2008:

Why do people hurt other people? I don't understand. Why can't we just live in harmony and peace? What makes people commit violent acts against others?
I don't think I will ever understand it.

In my humble opinion what causes this behaviour is simply the imposition of `wants' for things that are truly unimportant but made to be considered so by the type of society values we have allowed to be imposed into our daily lives.  Why does one consider violence to get what other's have? Simply because they have come to see these as important for defining who one is within the order of societal hierarchy.  Too is the element of greed that can be translated to material possessions but not at the exclusion of human possessions - ie jealousy.  These are but a few reasons why we hurt each other.
